WebFacts. Tall larkspur is native to North America, but in New England, where its disjunct populations are at the northern edge of the species ' range, it is considered introduced. It gets its common name, larkspur, from the prominent sepal that is prolonged into a spur. Its tall spires of purple flowers bloom later than other larkspurs.
