The cutaneous electrogastrography provides an indirect representation of the electrical activity, that has been demonstrated in numerous studies to exactly correspond to simultaneous recordings of the mucosa or serosa. Since it is much easier to perform, the cutaneous electrogastrography has been used most frequently.
