WEBIf you live in the North, ENERGY STAR recommends windows with a U-factor that is 0.22 or lower. Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) is the amount of solar heat that can enter through the window. A lower SHGC means less heat can enter. If you live in the South, ENERGY STAR recommends windows with an SHGC that is 0.23 or lower.
