Here are some quick steps to lock cells in Excel using this formula: =C5*D5*E2. Say you want to lock cell E2 to remain constant as you copy the formula to adjacent cells. Click E2 in the formula to place the cursor between E and 2. Press F4 on your keyboard. Select the cell with the formula and click on the cell reference that you want to lock in the formula bar. Press F4 on your keyboard to add dollar signs ($) before the column and row of the cell reference. This will make the cell reference absolute and prevent it from changing when you copy the formula. Press Control + 1 to open the format cells dialog box and select the Protection tab. Check the ‘Locked’ option and click OK.
