The Hummer is a famous brand of trucks and SUVs derived from the military Humvee. GM purchased the brand name in 1998 and started marketing the H1, H2, and H3 models under the Hummer badge. In 2010, General Motors announced it would stop manufacturing Hummer vehicles and began shutting down Hummer dealerships in a phased manner. Are Hummers still made?
The H3 and H3T, the last two Hummer models still being made, are produced at GM's Shreveport, La., factory. The factory, which also makes the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado pick-ups, will stay open. The plant employs 1,120 people and no layoffs are planned.
