The new system, called the Oregon Criminal History and Abuse Records Data System (ORCHARDS) replaces the Criminal Records Information Management System (CRIMS), which has been in use since October 2011. Staff and others will use ORCHARDS for background checks starting Friday, July 31, 2020. ORCHARDS is more secure and easier to use.Who are the results of a background check sent to?
The results of background checks are sent to the agency (the agency who requested the criminal background check,) except where statutorily mandated. There are very few instances where statute mandates a second copy of the response be sent to another agency when certain conditions exist.
