The new FA24 turbocharged 2.4L Boxer engine in the 2023 Subaru WRX STI will produce roughly 400 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque, up from the current engine’s 310 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque. The 6-speed manual transmission is expected to be upgraded, but the gearing will remain unchanged.
What's the difference between Subaru's WRX and STI?Subaru has officially retired the EJ engine that did duty in the last several generations of STI, and the predictions are that the new model will inherit the 2.4-liter flat-four from the WRX, but with the wick dialed up somewhat. While the WRX produces 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, the STI is expected to churn out 345 hp.
What are the 2021 Subaru WRX trim levels?The 2021 Subaru WRX sedan is available in five trim levels: base, Premium, Limited, STI and STI Limited. The base, Premium and Limited trims use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (268 horsepower, 258 lb-ft of torque), a six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive. An automatic is available as an option on certain trims.
How much will the next Subaru WRX cost?Subaru hasn't said how much the next WRX and WRX STI will cost, but we expect each model to receive an uptick in price. Our guess is that the regular version will start around $30,000 and the STI will open at about $40,000.
